jane_elliot: A Challenge

 When I was sent forth to announce the opening of the second round of the Small Fandom Big Bang (now open to all small fandoms) I sort of panicked because, heck, that's a *lot* of fandoms, and there's no way I can pimp to *all* of them.  But then I realized what a tremendous opportunity it was, because there are a ton of stories I've been wanting to see told in small fandoms and here's my chance to spread the ideas around in the hopes of hooking an author.  Thus, I give you a challenge:

Fandom: Dear Frankie

Suggested Pairing(s): Lizzie/The Stranger

Genre(s): Post-movie, Romance

The Challenge:
I've read most of the Dear Frankie fic out there and I was surprised to discover that most of the stories did not depict the Stranger as a sailor, even though he clearly is one in the movie.  I find this baffling, as it's not like Lizzie (a part-time waitress in a fish and chips shop) is going to consider herself above a sailor.  Besides, sailors are hot.

So, my challenge: a post-movie fic where the Stranger (who is a sailor), comes back to port and decides to woo Lizzie.  He may or not be getting tired of his life at sea, but even if he is, there aren't a lot of jobs open to him.  Fortunately he has the love of a beautiful woman and her amazing son to help him along.

Topping Suggestion(s):
-If you don't want to deal with the financial difficulties that Lizzie and The Stranger might face, just remember that Lizzie's husband apparently came from money, and there's a good chance that he left what he had to Lizzie or Frankie after his death.

The Small Fandom Big Bang Challenge:
If you think you can write a 30,000 word story from the above prompt (or if you think you have a 30,000 word story in you at all -- there are no assigned prompts and you pick your own small fandom), you might consider signing up for the SFBB.  We'll not only archive the story for you once it's finished, but we'll also provide encouragement (cheerleaders!), audience readers, beta readers, and fact checking.  Sign-ups are open until August 1st and there are a few eligibility requirements, so please read the sign-up post carefully before joining.

If you aren't interested in the SFBB but still want to write a story for this challenge, well, that would make me a very happy camper.  In that case, please leave a link in the comments to this post when you finish the fic so that I can gush appropriately:)  If you are interested in my other SFBB challenges, they can be found here

samescenes: fic: "Shummer Shudder" {PS I Love You - Gerry/William, NC-17}

Hi, it's my first post here, and I thought I'd give you all a little something. I actually wrote it a couple of weeks ago, but only just found a comm to post it to. Hope y'all like it.

Title: Summer Shudder
Pairing: Gerry/William
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: Taking liberties from fictional characters that do not belong to me.
Warnings: Slash, explicit sexing.
Spoilers: Minute spoilers, it's set pre-movie, but I would not recommend reading it if you haven’t seen P.S. I Love You.
Summary: Don’t ya'll think it’s funny that Gerry left Ireland, and never told Holly anything about his best friend, as she didn’t know who William was when she got there?

Before, they shared everything. A beer, a thought or a kiss.

monatrait001: Completely mistified....

Wow, i'm such an idiot!
I've been on LiveJournal for a very long time, and I will say that in some aspects, it is better that Myspace.
So anyway, I've been a fan(or phan, really) for awhile, ever since I saw the Broadway play a few Spring Breaks ago in NYC. I've seen the movie countless times, own the soundtrack, and, of course, worship the genius that is Erik, our Phantom.
But anyway, I just wanted to say hi to everyone. So, Bonjour!

dracschick: Hi, I'm new........

Hi all,

I can't believe I've been on LJ for over a year and just found this community! I joined a little while ago so this is my first post.

I'm new to this community but not really to LJ. I've been an LJ member for a little over a year now. I've been a Gerry Butler fan since I first saw him in Dracula 2000. He was the one standout in the movie and looked great in the 1891 scenes. I'm also a huge Dracula/vampires fan and have been for the past 20 years. His portrayal though, made me keep in mind a younger looking Dracula character when I write my Dracula fanfiction.

I'm 35 and have been writing my cross-universe Dracula-Phantom fanfiction since the early 90s (days of print fanzines). I went to grad school in the 90s, came out in 99 and started writing again.

I was very happy Gerry was chosen to do the Phantom movie. While I think the movie had it's problems, I enjoyed Gerry's portrayal and his voice:)

Feel free to read my LJ, my fanfic http://www.fanfiction.net/u/397630/ and friend me. I enjoy making LJ buddies, especially ones that think Gerry's a terrific actor (like me).

Take care all,
Dracschick
